Our deck boards are made from up to 80% recycled uPVC. We use recycled materials in our products as a conscious measure to improve our environment as we value the world that we live in. Using recycled materials means that we are helping to reduce the production of new plastics. Another reason we opt to recycle is to that sourcing materials uses less energy than sourcing and importing virgin materials. Using recycled materials does not affect the quality in any way and they carry the same structural benefits as virgin materials, so we believe that there is no reason to not be using recycled materials when creating decking.

Using recycled materials is important and can be extremely beneficial to the environment – if these materials are used responsibly. By determining the materials used to make decking products we can establish if they can be successfully recycled. The good news is that many polymers that go to making decking products can be 100% recycled. The bad news is that when other materials (such as wood fibres, flour, dust) are introduced into the polymers to make composites these products are no longer recyclable and will likely end up on a landfill!

The materials used to make our popular Hampton and Focus decking are up to 80% recycled and, most importantly, fully recyclable . While there are many suppliers that use more recycled materials in their decking, does it matter to the environment if these decking boards cannot be recycled?

In 2018, BALI ( British Architect Landscape Institute ) reported there to be in excess of 100 companies supplying decking products, other than timber in the UK. These products are made by a range of materials including uPVCs, composites and WPCs. Decking For The Garden- 6 Great Facts About Advanced Acrylic Polymer

Some of you may be wondering why chose Advanced Acrylic Polymer (AAP) decking over composite or wood? What is the difference?  Why do we claim our Hampton decking to be ‘revolutionary’?

Well here’s some great quick facts about Hampton AAP to help answer those questions.

1)    No warping, twisting or shrinking

AAP unlike composite and wood doesn’t warp, twist or shrink as it is made from a polymer meaning it doesn’t absorb water unlike anything with woodchips in.

We’ve actually tested this theory ourselves and taken our Hampton AAP decking to be factory tested against composite under a heat simulation machine. The results were phenomenal; ours showed no fade in comparison to the composite material which showed a considerable amount of fading.

Hampton AAP decking is completely fire proof– we’ve realised over the years, as a summer lover all you want to do is enjoy your garden decking without having to worry about any unpredictable accidents. Our decking has been zero fire rated proven and certified, which means it won’t ever catch a light – pretty revolutionary don’t ya think!

We also realised many garden lovers like to install their own decking or want this to be as easy as possible. So through research and innovation we’ve created a simple plastic clip system which makes installation easy either for yourself or for an installer. Our simple clip system also means if for any reason you need a board replaced in the future, you can easily do this without having to dismantle the whole deck. Plastic clips also means no annoying creaking when you walk on the boards!
